This is one of my favorites so far. When I was painting it I was experiencing joy and peace. Being able to do what I love, creating beauty with a paint brush. I took an adventure into exploring colors that just happen to be my favorite. Teals,blues, ang greens have always made me happy and I like to use them in unexpected places.

My love for all things southwest is reflected in this soft watercolor painting of a cactus. This work is a bit on the illustrative side. Drawing and Illustration are my first love so it is always fun to go this direction. If you love the landscape of the southwest you will love to have this hanging on your wall.

The bison is a majestic symbol of freedom and hope. They were hunted to near extinction when once massive herds roamed the land. In recent years various native american tribes have worked to breed them and introduce them back to their native grasslands. Their work gives me hope that as human beings we can right a wrong and take care of the land and animals that inhabit it. I plan on doing another painting with the hills being filled with roaming bison as a symbol of hope for the future.

My concept was kintsugi and the wording I started with was “By His stripes we are healed.” Many times I write a scripture on the canvas before I start painting. While painting I meditate and worship on that same scripture.

Having lived in Ranch and farmland most of my life, I am very drawn to everything western, especially when horses are involved. Some of my best memories are riding horses across a pasture and trail riding. When I am in nature, I feel so close to God. I look around and see the beauty of the world around me. Mostly untouched by human hands. The trees, the rocks, the creek, the birds, and the smell of the earth. They move me deeply. When I was painting this, I thought about mornings. When everything is fresh and new, just like God’s mercies, which are new every morning, I am reminded of his faithfulness. Even though I fall short, He never does.
I hope this work brings you the peace and joy that it brought me when I painted it.

This painting was created entirely from my mind’s eye. It is about hope. As we travel through our lives, we encounter great pain and joy. No one is exempt from the trials of life. As a Christian I have a hope of a bright future filled with joy. I will encounter trials along the way, but there is hope of a new day walking with him. The lake is deep and dark because our trials mature us and give us depth in our walk. We are not puddles of water that soon will evaporate. Our water is fed through the rains he sends and through the deep aquifers of our relationship with him. The sun is about to rise. Hope is rising above the hills and valleys of our lives. I hope you find your hope and peace today: a new day, a new dawn. Hope is alive!

Soft cool colors inspired by the painted Dessert in Arizona. Tammie has been fortunate to visit the southwest a few times over the years and it left an indelible mark on her work. Being able to visit areas near where Georgia O’Keeffe practiced her art was a real joy. This work is impressionistic with fun, relaxed brushwork.

The original of this design was acrylic paint on acrylic canvas paper. This painting is abstract representational. You get the idea it is of a landscape but there are no real identifiable features. It was painted purely by imagination with some of my favorite blue colors. I love the combination of the blues and the orangish bronze colors.
